I had a thought during this morning’s commute: “What car would I want (and is relatively attainable for me) would get me in trouble if I had it?”
I immediately went to the GT350. I took a hard look at a used GT500 when I was car shopping and can’t get DAT V8 out of my mind. I can see a GT350 being wrung out from stoplights, on ramps and really any open straight. It would definitely get me on a first name basis with local officers while draining my account because liquid dinosaurs and new rubber can get expensive.
What about you?
I was also thinking about trucks and running over ALL THE THINGS!

Any rental car if I’m honest haha. I’ll have a convertible (fingers crossed mustang) for two weeks on a SW road trip later this week. Half the trip requires off roading which is why you should never buy a former rental car.

For some, Miata is always the answer. For me, Grand National is always the answer.

are you really going after a mustang? why are you getting a new ride? is the FoST going away?

mainly because i’d go where ever I want, the highway median would be my person fast lane, fences would be irrelevant, i’d go all sorts pf places that say do not enter.

You can flat foot shift a stock Miata at redline from stoplight to stoplight and still be doing the speed limit!
Ask me how I know :)

Oh, no...I was looking at one when I was shopping and ended up with the FoST. It’s here to stay. The day it goes away will likely be the day my brother needs a car of his own. He loves hatchbacks and will be graduating in a couple years time.

Similar train of thought to my alternative haha.

That is one of the best parts of Miata ownership. Every highway onramp becomes a personal race track. Downshifting into the corners (I need to learn heel-toe), accelerating out of the corner, and ringing out 1st-3rd gears to get up to highway speed.

I have always been tempted to off road my rental cars but have feared getting stuck someplace with a broken axle or some shit. Best I have done is donuts in a dirt lot with a rental Camaro. While that was fun, I could imagine the shenanigans of truly offroading a Hyundai Accent or something would be hella dangerous.

Even if I could afford one, the cost of tires and reckless driving tickets would bankrupt me.

A Reliant Robin. Just think about how many barrel rolls you would try to do!

Donuts are always fun haha, just put tape behind the finders and to the side if you’re on dirt to prevent paint damage and you’d be shocked at how far you could get. I did a northern rally segment in a rental Chevy Cruze. Scared the life out of my ex’s father (she knew I had a lot of previous racing experience). As long as it’s fairly smooth it’s fun. I took it on some off road trails as well and it held up well, I only high-centered it once and with a car that light, it’s really easy to shift the weight by sitting on it haha.
edit: p.s. I know, I’m kind of a dick haha

I already speed too much in my Crossfire. A Miata is what I should buy considering the amount of money I want to spend. A C6 would surely get my license taken away at some point. If only because I wanted to hear that exhaust.
And I’d probably end up dead in a Viper.

Probably my next car.
My current LS1 Camaro got me on a first name basis in my last town. But since I moved to a bigger city, I noticed I can get away with more lol.

Im happy with my car (if no one has noticed LOL) but what I do want is a bigger turbo, and 2 step/anti lag loaded on my stand alone ecu. That would get me in lots of trouble.
For proof and fun here are 2 videos:
(skip to the end for flames)
This one is out of Europe (which is where cars go way harder IMO)
Im not looking for that much power, but I must have the machine gun fire!

There is an RS4 for sale near me. I know it would bankrupt me in maintenance costs and I’d get so many speeding tickets but I just don’t care. I want it!

I once drove part of the Rubicon Trail in a rental Chevy Malibu. The only thing that eventually forced me to turn around was having an insufficient approach angle for an obstacle.

I already have something that is going to get me arrested... It’s really hard to stay within the speed limit in my car, considering it sticks to the ground so well and takes off so quickly.

You can flat foot a Grand National stoplight to stoplight and still be under the speed limit - you’ll just need a new set of rear tires.

Meh.... pretty much anything would get me in trouble... A classic 911, a 240Z or my father’s Alpine A110 1600SC... That would get me in BIG trouble and none of those are over 200hp :)
Powerful cars tend to keep me “cool” actually. I know I’ll never reach the limit of those, while less powerful cars on the other hand, always get me tickets. I got a speeding ticket in my 42HP Austin Mini after all... I never got one in my 305hp Corvette...
